Bio for Harlan J. Hendricks
I was born eighth of nine children to Willis M. and Thelma L. Hendricks of LaGrange, Georgia (the date withheld). Although not apparent to me when growing up, both of my parents contributed to my interests in science and forged my philosophy of life in general.
My wife of 22 years, Mary Beth, has been my love and admiration since we first met as undergraduates at LaGrange College. In addition to being a lady in its truest sense, she is a scholar in her own right. As she supported me through much of my graduate education, she earned a doctorate in Special Education Administration from Virginia Tech.
Of course, our beautiful children are my daily inspiration. Sarah is 13 , and Nathan is 7.
Among my hobbies and interests are collecting old bottles, taking nature walks, gardening, participating in sports (except golf, tennis, and synchronized swimming), and investigating my ancestors' participation on both sides during the American Civil War.
